What's up Doc????
Hello Beach Walkers.
I would like to invite you all to join us in our little walk along Beach Ave. tomorrow at 10:00 am. It looks like we may have some sunshine. If you can not make the walk, please try and have some tea or coffee with us.

How are the Beach Walkers doing? I should really say Beach Walker, singular, because I only have one steady Beach Walker join me on a walk. But I understand that some of us are busy counting fish.
So I will start with my first problem. My new roof. Check out this picture. You may notice the screws that used to hold the roof panels in place are coming out. This was a real surprise to me. I think what is happening is that the sheets get hot and expand. Then they cool down and in the process of this heating and cooling the screws get pushed out. Great, another problem for me. I think I will have to go inside the roof and put some 2X4 re inforcements where the screws are. I will use some longer and bigger screws so they hold better. A roof generally has 1\2 inch plywood sheathing and it is just not thick enough to have the screws hold the roof panels in place. Another help would be to drill the holes in the roofing sheets a little bigger so the sheets can move a bit when they heat and cool. But this movement could wreck the rubber seals on the screws. I need to think about this some more.
Next story. My TV is getting older and I thought with all the Christmas sales I should look for a new TV. One that has all the built in things that are now plugged into my TV and are all over the place. First advertisement that I got was from Wall Mart, or as I like to call it Wally World. So I ordered a 65 inch LG TV. Looked great on the web and the price was pretty good. So I received the TV mount that I ordered and waited for the TV. Checked out the tracking number and it said it was in Delta. Couple of weeks go by and I followed the tracking again. Nothing changed. So I contacted Wally World and eventually was told it was lost in shipment. How do you loose a 65 inch TV? Next I get a message the refund would be in my account in a few days. These are all "No Replay" emails. So I can't even vent my anger at these people.
So I kind of gave up until I got an ad from Best Buy. They had a similar TV for about the same price. So I ordered the TV and a shipping fee of $344.00 was added. That is more then half the price of the TV. So I cancelled the order. There is a best buy outlet in Sechelt and I went in there to ask them why. I was told if the TV was over 55 inch there would be a shipping charge. I asked them if they had any 65 inch TV and the guy said "no". The reason was that there would be a shipping charge even to them.
Then I thought, lets try Amazon. They had a similar TV and because I am a prime member there was no shipping added to the cost. The only down side is that the TV won't get here until January 10, 2025. I don't really mind the wait. I am now waiting for the next email telling me the TV was lost in shipment or they forgot to add the shipping cost. We shall see.
One more thing I investigated. I am interested in getting a battery back up for the house so in a power failure I can still watch TV and have some lights. But I want an electric solution so I do not have to burn some kind of fuel, and charge with solar panels which I have. I investigated a Tesla Power Wall. Even after the rebate from the government it was still over $22,000.00. And this was for a 5 kilowatt system. I can get a 11.5 kilowatt battery backup from Eco Flow for about half of that. Now this does not include the transfer switch but they are also available from Eco Flow. I like the Eco Flow Ultra. Unfortunately the Eco Flow sales are now over. I am hoping for some really great Boxing Day Sales. I am trying to get some technical details on the Eco Flow but they are hard to find. Anyway the payback for a Tesla Power Wall is going to take longer then I may live. So I am going to tell them, "Thanks, but no Thanks".
I will leave this web mail with a picture of Linda and her sister Susan dressed up as ducks. I found another box of pictures and I thought I would share this one with you. I am not sure of the colours as the pictures were in black and white. My guess is that the costumes may have been a different colour. The best thing is the duck feet. One of Lin's legs is a bit different in colour but I will fix that later. We all have pictures of our kids that they don't really appreciate. I have some great once of our daughters. I have ones that I may include one day.
We had a great time at the "work place party". I only recognize about a quarter of the people that are there. The rest are all new workers.
The Flair Christmas lunch was great. Lots of people showed up and the food was good. It was catered this year by the lady who did this in the past. We did not win anything this year and we gave Flair the Christmas gift from Trudeau to Flair. Carol, Jean, Dana, Christine and Mandy do a great job of organizing this Christmas party.
On Monday's walk I ran into Sheila and she bought me a coffee. That is all I have to say for this week. We will be in Powel River for Christmas and most likely New Year we will be at home.
