Weather tells me "Mostly Sunny and Nice". It will be a nice walk. Hope to see you tomorrow at the GumBoot, I think Pat and Wendy will be present. There will be good food and drink. And maybe some stimulating conversation. There may be a test to see if you read all of my fantastic web email.

Before I say anything, I hope you are all having a great day. Not all people on this planet have it as nice as us. I just had a great find in Sechelt on Sunday.
I went for my walk as usual in Sechelt on Sunday. On Saturday I walked through the market. Nothing new there, just interesting stuff to buy. We were watching YouTube and an interesting statement came on the screen. I quote "what ever happened to Heath Kit?". I had a conversation with Lin about the Heath Kits I bought. The radio shown on the screen is like the one I bought and built. Below is a copy of the advertisement for the radio in 1966. To the best of my recollection I was 15 when I bought the radio with my Province paper delivery money. In the advertisement there is a small pair of wire cutters in the add, I still have the yellow handled wire cutters in my collection of tools. Cutters are simply made, but always useful.
And as you may now have guessed, on my walk Sunday the junk market was on and I found a radio just like the one I lost. For ten bucks I had to have it. Only thing is I do not know if there are any original radio stations in BC transmitting the original signal. I think most have gone digital and this radio can not decode them. So all the noise it can make is a bit of static.
I have built other kits. I still have all of them. I built a Heath Kit signal generator, a Heath Kit oscilloscope and two Dynaco Pat 4 pre amps for my stereo when I was around 15 to 18 years old. Can not remember exactly due to my old grey braincells.
There was another interesting thing from TikTok. A Chinese fellow was talking about how many things made in China, Americans had in their homes. Then he asked how many things from America he had in his home. He had none. He was commenting how dumb Americans are. Tariffs will only hurt Americans. I have recently started looking for alternatives to Amazon. I have tried a purchase from TEMU. I will let you know how it works out.
Below this is a little video I found on Instagram. You may find it interesting what a Chinese man thinks of the American tariffs. I agree with him. I have said for many years that we can not continually export our jobs so that the rich can get richer. One example, TV's used to be made here in North America, not so anymore. In China they have high speed rail, do we? Thanks to that stable genius south of us we will be exporting lots of gas and oil. Lets hope our government uses it to improve the lives of all Canadians. Just hit the white triangle button to start the player.
Please remember this is just one guys opinion. He may have been told by the Chinese government to make this up. I am pretty sure there are very rich people in China. I am pretty sure they get their wealth at the expense of other Chinese people. They probably manipulate the markets in China. As far as I know the Chinese are the longest surviving nation in the world. There are no more Egyptian Pharaoh's, no more Roman Caesar's, I could go on, but the Chinese are still where they have always been. And we all know what the people south of us have for a stable genius leader. Always keep an open mind and check these things. I have been wrong before.
Here we have another Chinese vehicle. It is an electric look a like Dodge truck. The show comes to us from Australia. They have much better access to Chinese products. You can click on the link below to see how the Chinese "Dodge" truck compares. One thing I will say is that I might be interested just to have a vehicle to pick up some plywood or 2X4 when needed. Would even be handy around the property. I paid more for my lawn mower. Cost comes to about the same as putting a trailer behind my Tesla. Just hit the play button if you are interested.
I know this is getting to be long but I just found this bit about a fellow Dutch man. You may have heard his name before. Rembrandt van Rijn. Looking at his art is like looking at "photographs from the past". One of them may be for sale, one of his self portraits. He looks like the "artsy type". Look how the ladies are dressed.

Study of a Woman in a White Cap Rembrandt van Rijn circa 1640
This next painting is not a Rembrandt but a Vermeer. Only reason I put this in here is the title. Young Woman Seated at a Virginial, Johannes Vermeer, circa 1670 75. It caught my attention due to the word "Virginal". Back in those days they had something ladies had to sit at to make sure every one knew they were "virgins"??????????????????? How times have changed. Check out the clothing styles of the time. Check out the real definition of a "Virginal". Hahaha
Virginal | Harpsichord, Clavichord, Keyboard | Britannica
Virginals were particularly popular in 16th- and 17th-century England, where the name was also used generically to mean any harpsichord. The 17th-century Fitzwilliam Virginal Book contains pieces that are characteristic of the English repertory.
An image of a real "Virginal".
When you think about it some of the artist from the past really show us what they saw and how they lived. It is not just paintings but also statues, buildings, anything that shows us a view of the past. I am still trying to figure out the Nazca lines. Do you know what they are???
Some late breaking news. Elon Musk is preparing to exit White House. Pope Francis dies after meeting JD Vance. Hmmmm??? Have any of you ever heard of Saint Malachy? In the 13th century, the Archbishop of Armagh, an Irish monk named Malachy, allegedly received a mystical vision. In it, he saw all future Popes of Rome, beginning with Celestine II and ending with the last one. The last one was number 112. This was Pope Francis. I am now patiently waiting to see if he really was the last Pope. My guess is he was not. I am sure the Holy Romans are even now coming up with a new Pope. Or as a Hungarian I worked with called him "the Papa". I have trouble believing prophecies.
This video is not uploading very well. Maybe Instagram does not like me sharing this. I will try later.
